Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT)
Program Overview
The Lee Silverman Voice Treatment is designed to improve vocal quality for persons with Parkinson disease. It has been shown to be helpful increasing loudness and sometimes swallowing and facial expression.
The basic idea is “Think Loud.” Thinking loud using a good voice is made more habitual through exercises practiced daily that increase breath support, healthy vocal range, and production of conversational speech. Clients meet with the clinician 4 times a week for an hour each session for a total of 16 sessions. Deborah Insalaco, PhD, CCC-SLP is a certified LSVT clinician https://www.lsvtglobal.com/LSVTFindClinicians.
