Katrina Fulcher-Rood joined the Speech-Language Pathology department in 2016. Before her position at SUNY Buffalo State she worked at SUNY Fredonia in their Communication Disorders and Sciences department. Dr. Fulcher-Rood completed her doctorate work at the University at Buffalo specializing in Augmentative and Alternative Communication. Dr. Fulcher-Rood’s research interests include: (1) diagnostic decision-making process of school-based speech-language pathologists, (2) utilization of augmentative and alternative communication devices during everyday face-to-face communication, and (3) the scholarship of teaching and learning. Clinically, she works with adults with various acquired physical impairments including individuals with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis to help them find technology that supports their vocal communication. In addition, she works with children with complex communication needs to develop various literacy and language skills. Dr. Fulcher-Rood is a lover of dogs, music, and the Harry Potter series.
