Established in 1956, the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic at Buffalo State University is part of the Speech-Language Pathology Department which is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

What We Do
The Buffalo State University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic is a teaching program. Clinical services, including speech-language-hearing and swallowing screenings, evaluations, and treatment, are provided by graduate students pursuing their master's degree in speech-language pathology under the direct supervision of clinical faculty who are licensed by New York State and hold the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). Services are offered in the fall, spring, and summer semesters and provided free-of-charge. Donations are graciously accepted serving to promote ongoing clinical education.
Our Clients
The Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic provides services for individuals ranging in age from ~2 to 80+ years old who present with many types of delays, deficits, or disorders of communication or swallowing. Services to screen, evaluate, and treat may target:
- Articulation and Phonological Disorders
- Verbal and written language impairments in children and adults
- Social aspects of communication (i.e., pragmatic) disorders
- Aphasia
- Cognitive-communication disorders
- Voice and/or resonance disorders
- Hearing and auditory processing disorders
- Stuttering and Cluttering
- Traumatic brain injury
- Motor speech disorders
- Swallowing Disorders
- Accent
Our Services
Audiological Services
Clinic offers audiological services, including hearing evaluations and auditory processing evaluations, for children and adults.
Aphasia Support Group
The Stroke and Hope Aphasia Support Group promotes communication, education, support, hope, and a loving life for aphasia survivors and their caregivers.
Parkinson's Disease
Our SPEAK OUT! and Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) programs are therapy programs and support groups focused on those with Parkinson’s disease to improve their voice.

Our Location
- The Buffalo State University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic is located in Caudell Hall 149.
- The building is wheelchair accessible.
- Parking for clients of the clinic is available in Lot I-34.
Satellite Locations
The clinic also operates programs in the WNY community. Buffalo State University supervisors and graduate students provide services at the following community partnerships:

Our Hours
The clinic is open daily with after-school hours Monday–Thursday. All services are by appointment only.
The clinic operates in accordance with the Buffalo State University calendar.
Fall/Spring Semester
Some morning sessions are available on Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday
Afternoon sessions: 1:00 pm–7:00 pm
Tuesday and Thursday sessions start at 1:30 pm and end at ~ 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm, respectively.
Summer Semester
9:00 am–4:00 pm
(last appointment: 3:30 pm)
