The SUNY Buffalo State Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic offers audiological services, including hearing evaluations and auditory processing evaluations, for adults and children. A complete audiological evaluation will provide you with information regarding the softest sounds that you can hear, as well as how well you can understand speech when it is presented at a comfortable listening level. The clinic does not dispense hearing aids; however, if you are a hearing aid candidate, a recommendation can be made to a local dispensing audiologist. In addition, a brief overview of hearing aid options can be provided upon request.
An auditory processing evaluation can provide information about how you are able to make use of what you hear. During this evaluation, several tests may be administered. Some tests may require you to integrate information that is presented to both of your ears, while others evaluate how well you can understand speech in the presence of background noise. Evaluations can be completed in children as well as adults.
