Appointment Confirmation

You should expect to receive a confirmation of receipt for registration forms that are emailed or faxed within 2 business days.  If you do not receive a confirmation within this time frame, please call the clinic at (716) 878-3530 to ensure we received them.

Step 2: Evaluation

To determine if treatment is recommended, and appropriate grouping, a comprehensive speech-language evaluation will be conducted.

If you have received a Speech-Language Evaluation (completed within the last 6 months), at another clinic or have had other evaluations completed such as an Auditory Processing Evaluation, Hearing Screening, Psychological Evaluation or an Individualized Education Program (IEP), please include copies of those reports with your registration forms. Our clinic's evaluation may be waived upon submission of your full evaluation report.

Our clinic must have your recent speech-language evaluation, including therapy reports or IEPs on file to determine the need for evaluation and to the extent necessary. Summaries cannot be accepted.

Please call to schedule an evaluation: (716) 878-3530

Evaluation Schedule

Evaluations are typically scheduled in the spring semester on various mornings and take 2-3 hours to complete. Due to scheduling limitations, having an evaluation completed in this clinic does not guarantee admission into the current treatment session.  If unable to schedule an evaluation in the current session, we can provide a referral and/or you will be placed on a waitlist for the following session.

Step 3: Treatment Scheduling

Once an evaluation is completed or an evaluation report is received (for evaluations completed at another clinic), treatment can be scheduled.

Because the Buffalo State University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic is a teaching program, our operations closely follow the academic calendar and treatment and evaluations correspond with the fall, spring and summer semesters. Availability is determined by a number of student-driven factors, including class schedule, caseload and specific requirements set forth by our accrediting body, ASHA. We will make every effort to get clients into the current session but cannot guarantee space will be available.

Treatment is scheduled in semester-long segments and clients are typically seen twice a week for 45 minutes at a time, in a 1:1 setting.  Occasionally, small group treatment sessions are available. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.

Semester Scheduling

Scheduling is done approximately 2-3 weeks before a session begins.

Fall Session: begins in late September

Spring Session:  begins in late January or early February

Summer Session: begins the last week of June or early July
