Program Overview
Research suggests that up to 89% of people with Parkinson’s disease develop difficulty communicating. Participation in SPEAK OUT!® Therapy Program can help mediate the speech difficulties associated with Parkinson’s disease and improve the ability to communicate effectively.
The SPEAK OUT!® Therapy Program, developed by Parkinson Voice Project®, helps people with Parkinson's regain and retain their speech and swallowing. This evidence-based program combines patient and family education, individual speech therapy, daily home practice using workbooks, flashcards, and online practice sessions, weekly speech groups, and regular re-evaluations.
Clients report improvement in their speaking, their ability to be heard, and their overall quality of life.
Program Coordinators: Christina Mule, M.A. CCC-SLP, Anita Senthinathan, MClSc. SLP, Ph.D.
