New York State SPEAK OUT!® Therapy & Research Center
May 2026: Buffalo State University Speech-Language Pathology Department was named the New York State SPEAK OUT!® Therapy & Research Center. Congratulations to Christian Mulé and Dr. Anita Senthinathan who are the SPEAK OUT!® grant recipients. The SPEAK OUT!® Therapy Program developed by the Parkinson Voice Project helps people with Parkinson's and related disorders REGAIN and RETAIN their speech and swallowing. Gender Affirming Services
The Clinic is proud to announce a new specialty area: provision of gender affirming services. Karen Bunce, our valued adjunct clinical supervisor, offers client-centered services for transgender individuals that supports the development of authentic gender communication.

2026 Graduate Research Fair: 3-Minute Pitch Competition
Shae-Lynn Antonides - First Place Awardee
Students presented their research during a 3-minute pitch competition at the 2026 Graduate Research Fair during the Buffalo State 2026 Spring Student Showcase. Two Speech-Language Pathology graduated clinicians received awards for this competition. Shae-Lynn Antonides was awarded first place for her presentation on her research project titled: Speech Perception and Evoked Potentials in Individuals with Parkinson’s Disease, completed by Shae-Lynn Antonides and Robin Clifford, under the supervision of Dr. Anita Senthinathan and Dr. Kathleen McNerney.
Katie Bean - Third Place Awardee
In that same competition, Katie Bean was awarded third place for her presentation on her research project titled: The Influence of Sleep on Speech Intensity and Subjective Ratings of Speech in Parkinson's Disease, completed under the supervision of Dr. Anita Senthinathan.
Buffalo State SLP Alumni Award
Karen L. Bunce awarded the 2026 SUNY Buffalo State Speech-Language Pathology Department Alumni Award
The Speech-Language Pathology Department Alumni Award is awarded to an individual who demonstrates continued involvement and promotion of Buffalo State University's Speech-Language Pathology Department, demonstrates client and community impact, supports the academic success of our students, and has made a significant contribution to the profession of speech-language pathology. This year, the Department was honored to present the 2026 Speech-Language Pathology Department Alumni Award to Ms. Karen Bunce.
Collaboration
Center for Interprofessional Learning and Simulation (CILS)
SUNY Buffalo State's Speech-Language Pathology Department participated in a collaborative event hosted by Daemen University’s innovative Center for Interprofessional Learning and Simulation (CILS). Dr. Anita Senthinathan and Christina Mulé, along with our first year graduate clinicians, joined an interdisciplinary team to treat a simulated patient.
